Including the Minnesota K–12 Academic Standards in my toolkit is essential because they provide a clear framework for instructional planning and assessment design, ensuring alignment with state expectations. These standards also guarantee that all students receive equitable access to high-quality education, regardless of background or school district. By referencing these standards, I can meet licensure requirements and engage in the teacher evaluation process, which often assesses alignment with the standards. This will help guide my teaching practices and ensure consistency and effectiveness in my classroom.

I chose this as an artifact for my toolkit because this study examines the role of exit slips as a formative assessment tool in predicting students' academic performance. The research highlights how exit slips can provide immediate feedback on student understanding, allowing teachers to identify areas where students may need additional support. The findings suggest that incorporating exit slips into regular classroom activities can enhance student accountability and inform instructional decisions.

I chose this article as an artifact because it provides a guide on crafting effective and measurable learning objectives. It emphasizes the importance of using specific action verbs from Bloom's Taxonomy to clearly define what students should be able to do upon completion of a lesson or unit. The author discusses the SMART criteria: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound, as a framework for writing objectives that align with assessments and instructional strategies. Also, the article highlights common pitfalls to avoid, such as using vague verbs like "understand" or "appreciate," which are not easily measurable which seems important.
