I use the month to remind myself to soak in the depth and beauty of Black culture. I do this by spending more time with social media accounts of Black creators that showcase Black excellence year round and sharing that with my friends and family(virtually and in real life), as well as with my classes occasionally. I read stories of Black history with my son and talk about the beauty we see in our Black friends and people we know. We talk about the richness of life that we all enjoy because of Black creators and remember to give them credit. We also talk about the struggles and how we can be allies this month (and other months for other cultures).
