Francisco was born in 1476 in Trujillo, Spain and he died in 1541. He explored for Spain from 1496 to 1541. His purpose for sailing was to procure a commission from Emperor Charles V. Pizarro which was to conquer the southern territory and establish a new Spanish province there. He discovered the country of Peru and founded the capital of Lima.
One fact about him is that he went with Vasco Núñez De Balboa on a adventure and together they discovered the Pacific Ocean. Secondly Pizarro ended up arresting Balboa under the orders of Pedro Arias who was Balboa's rival and one last fact is that Pizarro served as mayor of Panama City.

Born on August 13, 1574 in Brouage, Province of Saintonge, France, Samuel de Champlain was destined to be an extraordinary explorer and conquistador of France. In fact, historians analyzed his birth certificate, found in 2012, to get his birth date.* From 1601 to 1603, Champlain and his uncle travelled to Spain and the West Indies. Then in 1603, he embarked on a voyage to Canada with François Grave Du Point. There, he discovered the Great Lakes, Bay of Fundy, St. John River & St. Croix River. Continuing on, in 1605, Samuel and Lieutenant General Pierre Du Gua de Monts explored New England (including Cape Cod) and Southeast Nova Scotia. In 1615, Samuel de Champlain decided to expand his knowledge and greater his independence by exploring the interior of Canada. During this expedition, he became familiar with the Native tribe called the Hurons and later founded Quebec. At the battle against the Hurons and the local natives Iroquois, Samuel obtained an injured knee in result of a bow and arrow shot.* He spent the later years of his life documenting his travels with intricate maps and illustrations.* With that being said, Champlain died on December 25, 1635 in Quebec at the age of 61.

* interesting facts marked in asterisks
