The pain, sadness and violence is reflected in the face of the woman who despite the circumstance always carries a mark of peace, care and the search for a dignified life.

Here we are women, in the search for peace, outlets and generating changes from our knowledge, talents and dreams to build a more peaceful world.

Peace can only come if we make the body whole: if we focus on long-term economic and environmental sustainability, and how we can ensure that women are able to live without want and without fear of their lives being ruptured.

The intention of the draw is to describe all the pain people has to suffer because of an ambitious project that defies the natural course of a river.  The directly affected are the inhabitants of the riverine communities, being victims of the dualism between the state and illegality and all the things around the Hidroituango project. 

The effort that makes the state to hide the problems in Ituango it´s a chronicle of the problems of Colombia and how they put innocent people in the middle of a conflict. In the draw, we can see a women hands receiving the problems (violence, environment damage, economic effects, illegality, guns, the few presences of the state) and the resilience of the people who lives every day with that pain or have to witness how an engineering project destroys all their environment (taking with it their sociocultural constructs and damaging their economy)

This ambitious project goes from being one of the biggest energy promises in Colombia and Latin America to a threat for thousands of people living in communities surrounding the construction zone of this dam. The territories affected by the Hidroituango project are areas where the Government has been absent and therefore suffer from an important lack of economic and social development. This area has been characterized by weakness of State institutions in terms of access roads to rural areas, lack of formal employment opportunities and access to justice, cooptation of public servants by illegal armed groups and a consequent distrust in the institutionality of the State on the part of the civil population. The inhabitants of this area looked with good eyes at this project as it would bring progress to their community after having been so beaten by the armed conflict.
