Kinder Kiddos

For Kindergarteners, this week's lesson was an active movement lesson in team-building. At the end of a full day of school, 5-year-olds tend to be, well, restless. That makes active movement necessary!

I assigned kiddos to small groups where they each shared and then learned a unique "dance move". As they learned each move in sequence, they combined the moves into dance routine. Groups then performed their routines for the class!

Getting to Know You...

Collaboration- a crucial ingredient for project-based learning this year!- was this week’s theme. Students in grades 3-4 learn to introduce themselves, shake hands properly, and discussed what it means to collaborate. Getting to know one another means speaking and listening, exercising multiple perspectives and using empathy, and students had the opportunity to put that into practice during our inquiry and activity.

An adapted version of the “Shake It Up” lesson we did in Middle El, the kiddos contemplated and discussed the African Proverb, "To go fast, go alone. To go far, go together." They learned the importance of "teamwork," and the path to teamwork: speaking and listening. Then they began the activity, asking and answering questions of one another and forming connections.

About Me Digital Posters and Presentations

A chance to see the existing design skills and previous learning, students were assigned to create a digital poster about themself using Canva multimedia creation software. They then stood before the class to present their poster, and audience members were given a chance to ask questions and get to know one another better.

Welcome to the new school year! I am thrilled to serve as the Digital Teaching and Learning/Media Specialist for our K-8 community. My goal is to help students navigate the digital landscape in a safe, responsible, and enriching manner.
