I learned that it not is always easy to convince others and yourself that you are good something you were told you were never good at and never will be good at. There are many strategies we can use to approach this, but this is a generational myth that has been passed down.

I feel frustrated that the issue of equity is so prevalent in the inner cities and not really a big issue outside of it. We all know why.

I feel frustration, if we know that the standardization of the tests does not work, why do we keep doing it? Why do we continue to give dehumanized instruction to students?

Our discussion on access and equity within mathematics brings to light the challenges we as new teachers will face. The obstacles we will face such as pressures of standardized testing requirements, beliefs and common misconceptions, and difficulties within curriculum and instruction, will need to be overcome. It will be our duty to ensure students learn in a meaningful way.

Equitable mathematics is greater than "no child left behind" It starts in the core of education, making sure each child has the path within their school district to not be left behind. ( from our reading)

I feel saddened but hopefully that we can make some impact with our students. We are all teachers with around 20 students each we can make some difference!

The equity vs equality concept stood out to me the most because I feel like we've been battling and fighting this same fight for years and I don't know how long it will take to see some progress

Education needs to be accessible. We need to stray away from only focusing on the students who get the material quickly and who will have better scores on test and rather as teachers and an educational system, focus on providing all students with the proper conditions that allow them to succeed.

I feel that there really needs to be more professional development and discussion, in general, about how to actually change the system. We know the issue, how do we change the views of the people who are creating these requirements?

I feel for my students who struggle with math and already don't feel like they're intelligent or capable of doing math.

I feel that we need to remind ourselves that this is not something that can be changed in one year, but we should not be discouraged either

I really hope that the pressure that the younger generation of teachers is bringing will force older teachers to become open minded or at least allow for more and important conversations to take place

I feel as though there isn't enough done for those who need accomodations for a fixed mindset. I mention this because there are students who have a negative outlook on math and they don't give themselves a chance to understand the content. I feel as though there are tools that can be used to mitigate this, but how and when they'd be used would be a challenge.

Equitable math is transformative, but it is the type of change that won't take hold for decades. Nothing will change though if we do not remove barriers and increase ports of access for this subject.

Teach the teachers and the adults alike how to understand these new concepts and procedures. I also learn that adults need to be healed of the anxiety that they might feel or have felt before they talk about this subject to children. Projection is real and the damage from this fixed sentiment is everlasting.
