Discrimination means treating a person unfairly because of who they are or because they possess certain characteristics. Discrimination can take various forms:

Direct discrimination is when an explicit distinction is made between groups of people that results in individuals from some groups being less able than others to exercise their rights.

Indirect discrimination is when a law, policy, or practice is presented in neutral terms but it disproportionately disadvantages a specific group or groups.

Rolihlahla Mandela was born in South Africa, in the Eastern Cape, on 18 July 1918.
Mandela joined the African National Congress (ANC), the oldest black political organization in South Africa.
He dreamed also of making his own contribution to the freedom struggle of his people. He fought against the apatheid and he sacrificed his freedom to give it to others. He went to the prison for 27 years old. Here are some qoutes:

1. “Forgiveness frees the soul, removes fear. That's why forgiveness is a powerful weapon. "
2. “Nobody is born hating their own kind because of the race, religion or class to which they belong. Men learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can also learn to love, because love, for the human heart, is more natural than hate. "
3. "Do not judge me for my successes but for all those times that I fell and I managed to get up."
4. "The most difficult task in life is to change yourself."

Martin Luther King Jr was one of America’s most influential civil rights activists. His passionate, but non-violent protests, helped to raise awareness of racial inequalities in America, leading to significant political change. Martin Luther King was also an eloquent orator who captured the imagination and hearts of people, both black and white. Some quotes:

1 . "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
2. "the time is always right to do what is right."
3. "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
4. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

Mahatma Gandhi was the primary leader of India’s independence movement and also the architect of a form of non-violent civil disobedience that would influence the world. Until Gandhi was assassinated in 1948, his life and teachings inspired activists including Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. The Salt March in 1930 was one of Ghandhi's most successful protest: the British put a tax on salt, so Ghandhi walked three hundred kilometres to the sea to make his own salt and thousands of people joined him. Here are some meaningful quotes by Gandhi:

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

“Where there is love there is life.”

“A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.”

“If one man can destroy everything, why can't one girl change it?”
Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani education advocate who, at the age of 17 in 2014, became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize after surviving an assassination attempt by the Taliban. Yousafzai became an advocate for girls' education when she herself was still a child, which resulted in the Taliban issuing a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Yousafzai when she was traveling home from school. She survived and has continued to speak out on the importance of education. In 2013, she gave a speech to the United Nations and published her first book, I Am Malala. some quotes:

1. “I raise up my voice-not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.”
2.“If one man can destroy everything, why can't one girl change it?”
3.“Let us pick up our books and our pens, they are the most powerful weapons.”
4.“The extremists are afraid of books and pens, the power of education frightens them. they are afraid of women.”
