         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Stamp Act was put into place in 1765 and this angered colonists. The British government used virtual representation to impose this while the colonists wanted actual representation. This tax was placed on newspapers, pamphlets, legal documents, etc. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Townshend Acts were created by Charles Townshend and imposed in 1767 because he believed it would show British authority. These acts put a tax on glass, lead, paper, tea, and paint. The colonists were furious with these new acts. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On March 5, 1770, several members of the Sons of Liberty started to harass some of the British soldiers in Boston. They threw snowballs filled with rocks and bottles at them. After a crowd gathered, shots were fired by the British, killing five colonists. The soldiers were later acquitted of all crimes by John Adams. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Tea Act is put into place in 1773 by the British government. The goal of this tax was for the East India Company, who had too much tea. It lowered the tax on British tea which gave British merchants an advantage over the American merchants.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The French and Indian War took place during these years and was against the Natives and French on one side and the British on the other side. the British won the war which ended with the Treaty of Paris. All of the French land was given to the British. Because of this,  Britain had to start imposing some rules on the colonies. </div>]]></description>
