I believe that state laws like "Stand Your Ground" should be repealed. If someone attacks you, you should be able to retaliate. That is covered under 'self-defense". Stand Your Ground is a law that allows people to get away with murder when they senselessly kill someone because they feel "threatened". Our mind can play tricks on us. How many times have you been scared to learn that whatever scared you was not true? A random sound outside ends up to be a family members' arrival. A man reaching inside his coat at the park is reaching for his wallet. An unfamiliar individual pacing the street in front of your home is visiting your neighbor. We live in fear of things that could end up bad. SYG allows someone to use deadly force in any of these situations, and it is their word against the hard core evidence in the court room. I believe that Self-Defense laws are adequate enough. In the article, it stated that Self-Defense laws mean that you must have tried everything to retreat from the situation before using force to combat the situation. Two wrongs never make a right, and killing someone justifiably because of what "might have happened" is not okay with me. The best thing to do since we were young kids in elementary school has always been to "walk away". This should be applied in handling SYG situations and is why the law should be repealed.

I believe that "Stand Your Groud" needs to be amended. In this coutry, we do need "Stand your ground." There are instances of self-defense where retreating is not an option. A person that retaliates in order to protect themselves should not be tried in court. on the other hand, I do believe that people are using "Stand Your Ground" as an excuse. Just because one feels threatened, it does not mean that violence is the way to go. Even if its just a split second, one must stop and think about what is the right thing to do in that instance. If you can retreat, retreat. If you need to protect yourself, do it in a way so that you will not take a human life away, Its like we have forgotten every we learned as kids, violence is not the answer. When it comes to "Stand Your Ground." we need to remember that.

I believe that the “Stand Your ground” bill should be
repelled. “Stand Your Ground” allows you to shot somebody, just because you
think the person will hurt you. I do not like that much free power to kill
others. You should only use self-defense if somebody is physically hurting you
and putting your life in danger. Not because somebody spooked you of is
touching you slightly inappropriately. People should not be so willing to kill
others, just to make themselves feel more secure. There are also a lot of
racial discrimination opportunities with “Stand Your Ground”.

I believe that stand your ground and similar laws should be amended because the law is unclear and not easily defined. I personally believe that they allow shooters the right to justify them killing someone especially those who are African Americans. In essence the law protects shooters from civil suit which leaves the victims family feeling as though no justice was made because charges were not pressed. It also gives gun owners power that may be used wrongly. Overall, stand your ground was poorly written and needs to be amended and even repealed.

I believe that the Stand You Ground laws and regulations should be amended. The laws that are currently in place have caused much confusion and multiple issues. For instance, a man could shoot someone and plea they stood their ground when in fact the individual that was shot was not posing a threat. The laws should be altered so that the Stand Your Ground law would state where the law should be in place (like on your property or on your business property) and whether the individual should have gun permits in order for the Stand Your Ground law to be valid.

I think that the laws should be amended, because the basis behind the law is correct, it is just that it has been misinterpreted in many ways. I believe that the law has a strong foundation, that has been manipulated by the system into meaning multiple different things.

The "Stand Your Ground" law should be amended. I believe it is a good law if someone actually were defending them self, however, the law is too broad to be followed. Depending on our upbringing and experiences, anyone can feel offended, resulting in the need to defend them self. For instance, if I grew up in a culture that taught me to feel threatened when someone does not give me at least three feet of personal space, I could shoot that person and get away with it. Why? Simply because the "Stand Your Ground" law said I could. Also, I do feel the case that was the center of the video was primarily about race. I feel the biggest reason the law has not been amended was so that people of a certain race, could get away with doing things to another race. For instance, say this case were the other way around and the black man shot the white man, the case would have been decided the day it was placed on the judge's bench. The black man would have been locked up for murder.

I think that the Stand Your Ground Law is has a racial factor behind it. I feel as if this is just another law trgeted towrads minorities. The law needs to be more specific as to explain what "threatened" means. Stand your ground is too messy and needs to be amended or completely thrown out. I believe that people will begin to use the stand your ground law to get away with uneccessary violent crimes agains others especially minorities.

I believe that "Stand Your Ground" should be applied , if place in a dangerous situation in which the person threaten is being invaded of their personal space. Furthermore , the law should be amended regarding the fact if a person is threaten. Verbal threatening should not be considered a reason to use the stand your ground law, for it should only be if a person is being threaten through any physical means.
