Summarize:
As the government does not know how to treat mentally-illed people, they pay certain people in private to care and give treatment to the people. But instead of caring for them, in a good way, they treated the mentally-ill people in such cruel ways such as beaten by rods, naked, chained, and etc. Because of that, one person named Dorothy Dix wanted to investigate how they are treating the mentally-ill and saw what was happening behind the curtains and filed a complaint to the Congress of how it is so and stated that there should be a bill that is only specialized through the mentally-ill patients. She became significant as she traveled throughout places other than Massachusetts to spread the word, raise awareness, and to have the states fund the hospitals for better treatment of the mentally-ill.

Cruel treatments such as confinement and physical abuse would be given to these mentally ill. A teacher named Dorothea Dix traveled around the states to investigate the care and treatment of the mentally ill, only to find out that they were being abused and locked away. Horrified at what she saw, she filed a complaint and called for a bill that helped the mentally ill. After her first bill passed, she traveled to other states lobbying them and continued to raise awareness about mental illness. She also lobbied for a national bill that was soon passed and is known to being her bill.

Yo Andrew, here are some important things to remember about the First Great Awakening. 1. It, and other awakenings, is about the rapid increase of religious fervor and unity under a single concept, idea or community. 2. Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield played large roles in the event due to their preaching and sermons that they performed publicly. 3. It took place mainly in the Northern region of the colonies.

Hey Andrew, some things to know about the 2nd Great Awakening. It strayed away from the more rational thinking to thinking with one's emotions, to use feelings rather than logic. The movement also appealed much more to the lower class as the type of language that they used was more understandable to them and as part of the lower class, women, slaves, free blacks and natives all attended the camps that they established as they were seen as equals. And lastly, they preached that in order to reach salvation, they must work hard and do God's bidding in order to obtain their eternal salvation at the end of their life, differing from what was preached by the Calvinists of the First Great Awakening.

To be a woman and to try and make change, especially during the time's political climate and how society viewed women which could have seriously affected her proposal to the government. Her courage and compassion for all people is inspiring and reminds me that I can make a change within my lifetime and to stick to what she believed in.

People in the American Temperance Society argued that it damaged families, caused poverty and led to domestic abuse, usually physical aggression from the drinker. It was deemed unmoral and something that people should completely abstain from. I think they deserve a high A, lobbying for the eradication of alcohol and providing valid arguments that have a fair amount of weight to them. Although, there aren't too many arguments for alcohol aside from scientific usage, I think that to completely take away alcohol was an unfair decision and something I feel politicians only listened to because they are opportunistic and will take whatever they can get to support their positions in office and future campaigns.

It hurts my soul so much to watch them ruin I Mean It and to see their bad dancing and lipsyncing. Anyways. Mother, the Cult of Domesticity is about women such as yourself staying home, and as someone who cooked, cleaned, and was more of a maid than a wife. They were subject to the whims of their husband and took care of the kids, they were unable to work and talking back was a big no-no. The Republican Motherhood is about mothers teaching Republican concepts and general American ideas to their children as well as just being slaves to the concept of male dominance and them not being good enough for anything else.

Sup Alex, here are some important things to know about the Second Great Awakening: The first thing to know is that Preachers told sinners that salvation was in their hands, which is different from the preaching in the first great awakening, being that they said god held their salvation in his hands. The second thing is that there was a growing desire for more participation in America's democratic process, but mostly for lower class. The last thing is that Emotional reality was used more than logical reality, this just means that they'd rather use what they were feeling rather than what they were thinking.

Sean, it is important to remember that the First Great Awakening was a religious revival that occurred during the early 18th century. It is to be noted that before the awakening happened, many people began to lose interest in religion and the churches. This caused many preachers to go around the colonies, preaching their sermons outdoors with thousands of listeners. Another thing to remember is that two preachers who made major contributions to lighting the spark for the mass movement were Geroge Whitfield and Jonathan Edwards. George Whitfield, like many preachers, went around the colonies preaching his sermons in places where it can be held. His style of wording and preaching was said to be thoroughly convincing that any word that he spits out was enough to make the crowd go in awe. Jonathan Edwards, however, mainly stayed in the bound of his own church. He used an emotional style of preaching, fear, to convince the masses to believe in Christianity and is most notably seen in his sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”, in which the only way to be saved from damnation was through the belief of God and Jesus. Ultimately, this era led to the unification of the people as the first national movement was experienced by many throughout the colonies.

Adding to fearing them, people would get paid to "take care of them" which led to many simply locking them up and forgetting about them while getting paid. Dorothea Dix was the first who investigated the inhumane treatment of the mentally ill and took a step forward in the process of understanding them/better treatment of them.

Sean, the Second Great Awakening was another religious revival that occurred between the late 18th century to the late 19th century. Similar to the First Great Awakening, much of the preaching occurred outdoors where Methodists and Baptists gave their sermons to what has become known as Camp Meetings. These preachers, however, abandoned the use of rational thinking that was used in the First Great Awakening in favor of a more emotional style to convince the masses. This is most notably seen from Charles Finney who has greatly captured the emotion from his audiences in his sermons. Another idea to remember in this movement was that unlike the First Great Awakening in which preachers believed in a predestined life, God has already chosen the people who can enter heaven, the Second Great Awakening emphasized that the life of a person is in their hands, they can work for their salvation. Lastly, the Second Great Awakening would give rise to multiple other movements as it greatly preached for salvation that took in the form of not only working on one self but also to fix the problems of society. Many preachers began to emphasize the issue of the mistreatment of women, giving rise to the Women’s Right movement, problem with alcohol, causing the creation of the Temperance Movement, etc.

Which range from the ways my grandmother raised her children and how my mother raised us. More examples lead from cooking, rules, religous beliefs, and etc.

They have concluded that alcohol results in crime, poverty, abuses towards women, and many other social ills and thus if successful, society will improve as a whole. I would give them an A-. Even though the movement died out during the Civil War, by resurfacing again after the war ended, it shows determination and the efforts they went through to revive it again and even successfully influence the government to pass the twenty-first amendment. However, some took radical actions that caused them to lose some points. Carrie A. Nation being one of them who would destroy property, liquor, with a hatchet and verbally berate the paying customer of the saloon to get her point across.

The idea was implemented mainly by white, protestant males who thought women were only supposed to take care of the kids, clean and cook (basically "the center of the house"). Another term used around this time was republican motherhood which was basically the idea of mothers making sure their kids had the same political beliefs/republican values etc.
