Some parts of society could enjoy new luxurious advancements in technology such as cars, however a lot of other people were still left behind driving a horse and buggy because most people could not afford to own a car.

Women's roles were beginning to change during the progressive era. They began to work outside of housewife jobs that they more typically had during the industrial revolution. For example, some worked the switchboards for telegraphs and others began doing more jobs that involved physical labor.

Due to the amount of jobs and money being brought in, people that might not have had lots of money in the past have a little better access to it now and are taking full advantage of it. Women especially are not dressing as conservatively and are showing a bit more skin.

Music was more popular and more widely enjoyed during the progressive era because of the new technology available. The phonograph was invented which allowed music to be played in homes for the first time without anyone playing. However, these devices were expensive so part of society was still left in the past.
