The city-states of Sumer were ruled by priests at first. When the Sumerians expanded the city-states there was conflict on ownership of the land, which sometimes led to war. This started the idea of kingship. The priests needed support from the kings in order for the kings to still have power. After the city-states were ruled by priests they were ruled by kings.

The city-states developed three social classes. The ruler, his top officials, powerful priests, wealthy merchants, and large landowners were in the upper class. The middle class included farmers and skilled workers. The lower class was mostly slaves.
The sumerians had many Gods that they worshiped. They believed that their gods were a lot like humans and did everything like them except they had great power and lived forever. The priests told the sumerians what the gods wanted so they had to trust each other.

If you didn't know the priests to kings thing was for me to do. On the ones that you did you didn't put capitals or periods. So I fixed it. I think that Mrs. Sparks would like us write more for each topic so you can look at how much I wrote for Sumerian society. I don't care if you do or don't write yours longer cause its not my grade but if I were you I would. You were also supposed to do the map of Mesopotamia cause you wrote our name next to it but you never did it so I did. Your welcome :)
          Sincerely,
                 Hannah Martin
