Stephen's message shows how the Israelites (or God's chosen people), denied/rejected Moses, when they rejected God. Their refusal to follow God finished with the dismissal of Jesus. However, Jesus brought all the sin of the world on Himself, and took the fall for us. In God's gift of Baptism, He gives us clean hearts and forgives our sins. As Peter and John were speaking to the people in the temple about Jesus' resurrection they were arrested because of the annoyance of the priests . When questioned why they were preaching, Peter and John responded that they were doing a good deed in the name of Jesus Christ who was crucified. When the high priest realized their boldness and the effect they had on the people of Jerusalem they warned them not to preach again. When Peter and John refused to stop preaching the priest let them go because they couldn't find a way to punish them.
