         <description><![CDATA[<div>South had one huge invention that expanded slavery in the south. Eli Whitney invented the Cotton gin in 1807. The gin cleans the cotton and gets the seeds out of it, way faster then a man can.  </div>]]></description>

Next there was about 43,000 people in 1850. This all changed when there was more then 40,000 immigrants in 1845. Lastly, when there was 100,000 immigrants in 1847.</div>]]></description>

They used men and women, along with cotton gins to make this process faster. They would remove the cotton and pack it into bags or barrels. The south also had their textile industry. This is where they made fabric, children also worked here.</div>]]></description>
