The underground rail road was a significant time period. The underground rail road was a way for enslaved people to escape and gain freedom. The Underground rail road wasn't actually a underground rail road it was a system used that includes a "leader" and safe harbors. The leader would take people to different safe areas all across the south to get other enslaved people and make it to free countries. If anyone was caught in the process they would be tortured and/or killed.

Segregation was a time period where people were separated based on a persons race. Segregation was "enforced" after the U.S abolished slavery. People had this idea that blacks and whites couldn't co-exist together. Segregation led to Jim crow laws being made and basically they were made to keep African Americans separated and at the bottom of the racial hierarchy. Around 1875 a civil rights bill was passed to stop/try to stop Jim crow laws but people were still discriminated against.

The great migration was when African American people would move into cities. They would have different reasons for these moves. Some of the reasons would be trying to escape racism and in need of better economic opportunities. As the cities built more factories and needed more workers, Both sides saw this as a good opportunity because the cities needed more workers that would work for less/not know they were working for less and the people just wanted what seemed like better jobs to them. Then after all this a wave of race riots start and the start of an artistic movement was made.

The march on Washington was for jobs and protection. The march on Washington was where around 200,000 people gathered together in hopes of pressuring the government to make a strong civil rights bill. The main reason this happened was due to jobs excluding black people. People started to draw more attention to that issue and started a peaceful march. The protest was successful in its goal of pressuring the government at the time to make a civil rights bill.

Black lives matter movement (BLM) is a movement still used today. The movement started in 2013 to fight against violence and police brutality among African Americans. Many police officers were accused of racial profiling and racial violence. BLM started to gain far more attention after many killings of people of African American descent. Another aim for this movement is for policy changes and to relocate funds from police to community programs. To this day this movement is still in place and active to try to stop the brutality around the world.

The LA riots happened in 1992 after a group of police officers had beaten this African American named Rodney King. People brought attention to this topic and this led to five days of riots. Some more reasons for the cause of the riots were because of racial and economic disparity, police brutality in general and the use of force during kings beating.Things such as arson, gun violence, and beatings were used during the riots. The violent methods used only led to death, injuries and property damages.
