I used this because a sunflower is very unique compared to other flowers--because it followers the bright sun but is not afraid of its stunning light, just like Jim in high school, who seemed like a hero in school with tags of "basketball captain", "head of debate team" ect...But when the sunflower gets older, it's uniqueness fades and wilts as time stretches forward, leaving the sunflower ugly and dead like any other flowers. This represents the warehouse worker Jim, who then is just loyal to his job and normal lie any other people that gives up adventure like the wilted sunflower that turns toward the ray of the sunlight.

The Wingfields think of Jim as their "wishing star" because he fulfils everyone's desires; Amanda no longer has to worry about Laura not receiving a gentleman caller, Laura doesn't have to stress herself because she can't fulfill her mother's expectations, and Tom can have his freedom once Laura finds her gentleman caller. The fact that shooting stars fade away, symbolizes Jim's former glory dying off.

I feel that when Jim was at highschool (on-camera) he got all the attention and fame, but once he graduated from Solman (off-camera) Jim's success went downhill. Usually the cameras can capture your prominence, but when you aren't being recorded there is a whole different side of a person's life, just like Jim's situation.

In this case, Jim was a very cool student in high school but ended up working with tom in a warehouse, but still affecting people with his proud and positive attitude, like a musician who ends up as a taxi driver but still holds his talents with him, even though he did not want or expect his future to be a taxi driver, but still happy with what he is.

I choose snow to describe Jim because of the fact that snow comes and stays with great beauty, but like Jim went to high school with popularity, but as days and weeks past, snow melts like Jim's popularity over the years, it snows every year, as jim wants to be a star of the warehouse, as a time to strike back, and be the hero he used to be. Tom is like the cold air, without tom he will melt more. As if without Tom, He cant show his glorious past and will receive less respect from his warehouse.
