Post-stroke hemiparesis is a complex medical problem that impairs the ability of the individual to dorsiflex or plantarflex on the affected side resulting in the need for compensatory walking strategies that make daily activities more difficult. ReStore Exosuit is intended to improve ankle movement by aiding the ankle plantarflexion and dorsiflexion during physical therapy thereby improving the patients recovery time (Hastings, 2020) . The system consists of a waist belt that houses motors connected to cables, which is then linked to a sleeve on the patient's calf and insole. (Hastings, 2020). The system relays information to a physical therapists smart device which can then be used to modulate amount of force applied, depending on the user's progress (Hastings, 2020).

The ReStore Exosuit will be a valuable addition to the rehabilitation of stroke survivors. I believe it will greatly improve the speed of recovery, reduce long-term gait impairment and improve quality of life for many patients suffering from hemiparesis. I do worry about the safety of individuals using this at home without the guidance of a physical therapist because the device could increase fall risk due to its bulky size and long cables. The price is not yet feasible for many rehab facilities, but in the future it may be more affordable due to insurance coverage.
