When the Old kingdom shifted into the Middle Kingdom, the purpose of the Pharos changed. In the Old kingdom, the Pharos purpose was to please the gods, and make sure that they were happy. But once the drought hit and the people stopped trusting the Pharos, they changed their purpose to pleasing the people.

They were western semitic-speaking people. They took over the Egyptians but didn't get rid of them. They ruled the land instead of conquering it. Eventually the Egyptians (Ahmosis) used there techniques to take over their power.
