single note also known as monophonic textures. They perform the same sequence of pitches in the same rhythm. It is often the soul of the music piece, because they are the specialization and the most dominant characteristic of the song. Sonny Rollins the good practice session is when “musician can make one not, one sound, that he feels happy with… music made by a person with a instrument boils down to a single tone”(72. Ever Song Ever)
I agree with Ratliff’s argument about the single note musical element concept, because the single note directly means one pitch. In order to make one pitch a music is one pitch work with changing meter. Which makes a music stand out from all other music.
The song Cinnamon Girl sing by Neil Young is one of the example of the musical element: single note, provided by Ben Ratliff. It is definitely different from  repetition, but the same note connect together with the changing speed in the ending of each part. That is what made this song up with its own style and soul.   


Jingle Bells is a well know kid song, and it plays the single note the most part of the song.
