One major theme is the treatment of black people. There was a white jury that said that Tom Robinson was guilty despite the evidence. 
2. Another major theme is the trial. About 1/2 of the story took place at the trial. 
3. The final major theme is Arthur Radley's life. Boo Radley has been mentioned frequently in the story.

Majority of those who were part of the white community had a dislike of members of the black community, certain people like Mr. Radley was willing to shoot any black man that finds themselves in his backyard. During the trial, even though it was obvious that Tom Robinson was innocent, majority still voted guilty.

2. Innocence.
The novel has characters who serve as 'mockingbirds', innocent beings who are corrupted by the evil around them. Tom Robinson is one of the mockingbirds and so is Arthur Radley.

3. Education.

The residents of Maycomb do not like colored people. For example, the first trial when the black man was found guilty for a crime he did not commit. 
2. Fear. 
Sometimes the Jem and Scout would be scared to go to school because there dad was being criticized for defending a black man.  
3. Equality. 
The town of Maycomb does not treat all the residents of the town properly. The novel paraphrases Franklin D. Roosevelt's inaugural address: "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Right on: fear can be very scary when it hijacks people's reason and compassion for others.

2. Family
In To Kill a Mockingbird, family is destiny. Within the small town where the same people have lived for generations, the parents raise their kids to be like them, for good or ill, or the pressure of community expectations that a person live up.

3. Compassion and Forgiveness 
if you can imagine what it's like inside that person's head, you might be surprised by the answers and compassion you find.

The most important theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is the book’s exploration of the moral nature of human beings—that is, whether people are essentially good or essentially evil. 
2.The importance of moral educations. moral themes, the novel’s conclusion about education is that the most important lessons are those of sympathy and understanding, and that a sympathetic, understanding approach is the best way to teach these lessons. 
3.The existence of social Inequality
Differences in social status are explored largely through the overcomplicated social hierarchy of Maycomb, the ins and outs of which constantly baffle the children.

Equality has been a problem for centuries. This book tries to portray the issue by showing how the African American community has been discriminated by the Caucasian community of Maycomb. This would boil over into the unjust verdict of the courts on Tom Robinson and his eventual death. 
 
2.  Coming of Age
Though the story Jem, Scout, and Dill grow taller and older. They grow mentally especially around the final half of the story when they witness a innocent man being convicted of a crime he never committed.

3.  Justice

Tom Robinson, a black man, is accused of raping a white women. Atticus brings forward obvious facts that prove he is innocent, but out of the hatred in their hearts the rest of the town do not let themselves see the truth.
2. Family
Every child in the community is like their family. The Finches are the "modern" ones that do not see color, the Radley's are the secretive family that are semi main characters but do not show up often and the Ewells are the poor family that live in the slums and are the reason for the conflict in the Novel.
3. Femininity
Scout, who's actual name is Jean Louise, is a tom-boy and dislikes wearing dresses and skirts. She also dos not like to be called a girl which she is judged for by her aunt Alexandra.
