The differences between Spanish and English is the conjugation of pronouns. Another thing is pronouns are associated by gender like masculine and feminine pronouns. For example los is masculine and las is feminine. If you're with a group of friends and there is one boy you have to say amigos instead of amigas because of the pronouns. What I find interesting about Costa Rican culture is how much they value family. Family in their culture is very important, while in most cultures family is something to be valued we tend to take it for granted. In Costa Rica people who are older are respected more and children are taught to respect elders. Which again most children are taught but nowadays aren’t always followed.

What do you hope to learn if you continue to study the Spanish language?

We have learned elements of a language in a different teaching/learning style than you may be used to. Talk about your experience with learning Spanish in an online class. 

If I continue to learn I hope to better understand the spanish language and be able to speak a bit clearer in Spanish. My experience in Spanish 1 online was a bit difficult due to COVID-19 and my other classes were also online. I enjoyed learning basic Spanish and like being able to say a couple of sentences to my Spanish speaking friends. 

What did you like about the course? What did you not like and/or what could be improved?

I liked how interactive it was and I liked how independent the work was. I liked how understanding my instructor was. I do feel like in the beginning it could have been slower so we could better understand but under the circumstances I understand why we went and dived right in.

What things did you do that helped you learn Spanish in this course? What things can you do to improve your own Spanish learning in the future?

What helped me was taking thorough notes and writing them instead of typing. Things I could have done and will do in the future is using flash cards, trying to use the knowledge I have learned into my everyday life. Lastly, do more practice quizzes to help me better understand.

What things did your instructor do to help you with your learning? Was there anything that your instructor didn't do that would have helped you?

My instructor was very helpful and understanding, if I needed help I was able to contact her easily. She was very thorough when explaining things to me.
