When telling a Sound Story make sure you do the following:
1. Your story must introduce the sound of the day and its accompanying action.
2. It should be short and memorable (use Zambian Language where necessary)
3. Don't just read the story, tell it! This way you can use more expression, gesture and body language to make the story interesting.
4. Make use of questions during the telling of the story to help your learners engage with the story, and questions after the story to check comprehension.

Dictation is a key part of a lesson where a teacher is able to assess a learner's ability to identify the sounds within a word and write down its spelling.
Both sounds and safe words should be assessed during dictation.
Questions 1-3 should be sounds. The teacher says the sounds (along with a sample word to clarify the learner's understanding), the learner then writes the sound.
Questions 4-6 should be safe words. The teacher says the safe word (along with a sample sentence to clarify the learner's understanding), the learner then writes the safe word.
Teachers should keep a record of their learner's progress.

Select 6-10 children from each team to play the game and get them to stand in two lines either side of your chalkboard.
The person at the front of each line line should be given a fly swat (or stick).
Teacher says: "There is a fly buzzing around the classroom and when I tell you the sound it lands on, the person at the front of either line has to try to be the first person to hit the fly."
Get the front to children to stand the same distance from the board. Then call out a sound. Whoever hits the correct sound first gets a point for their team.
