      <description>A 23-year financial industry expert, St. Louis resident James Giacin serves as the managing director of a Missouri financial firm. His responsibilities at the firm involve driving new strategic initiatives with an overriding goal of providing insurance companies with effective structured finance and asset management solutions. Prior to his time in St. Louis, James Giacin spent more than 2 years as the principal of a New York City financial firm specializing in diverse investment solutions for insurance companies. He began his career focusing on business development and intelligence at a New York City firm, ultimately leading the firm as director. Among his many achievements in this position, he created the firm’s Financial Institution Group, which eventually consisted of $11 billion in assets under management.

An economics graduate of Canton, New York’s St. Lawrence University, Mr. Giacin enjoyed a professional hockey career prior to his work in finance. He played Division I hockey at St. Lawrence for 4 years and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings during his freshman season. He also competed in the NCAA tournament and won the 1991 ECAC Championship. Following his time as a player, he coached the St. Louis Jr. Blues, winning the Gold Cup in 1994 and finishing runner up the following two seasons.

         <description><![CDATA[<div>While most prominent investment firms only hire professionals with post-secondary degrees, graduating from college isn’t a requirement to becoming a stockbroker. Prospective stockbrokers do, however, need to pass the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_7_exam"><strong>Series 7 exam</strong></a>, also known as the General Securities Representative Qualification Examination, in order to qualify to legally purchase or sell securities products such as municipal fund securities, corporate securities, options, and variable contracts. Series 7 exam candidates need to be sponsored by a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) member firm.</div>]]></description>
