Listen. I think one of the not important things to do as a teacher is to listen. There should be space for students to listen to each other and to be given the platform to speak. Teachers should be listening even when students are not speaking. There are so many pee identities and worries students walk in with that can lead a student to silence as well. It's important to validate what students have to offer. Even if what get offer is not much. Students are talking to you all day even if you do t realize it. Sometimes it means the world that a tea he'd asks you how hot are; how you really are. Students should also be exposed to different leaders that do have a voice in their community and in the country. Figures like Malcolm X, Sonia Sotomayor, Cesar Chavez, and MLK ate important role Odell in the lives of students. There should also be leaders represented from other cultures and identities as well. Students are speaking, we have to listen and give them the tools to amplify their voices even more.

I felt the biggest theme was to be contentious of how we are thinking about students "on the margins." That thinking of them as a future statistic was nullifying to them and ultimately carries a ripple effect into their communities.
