As a English teacher, I can make sure I integrate multicultural perspectives by taking the time fully understand the books we are reading and the assignments. If I am able to choose, then I will make sure to choose diverse literature.

Some of the books that we could do in the classroom, is Brown Girl Dreaming by Jaqueline Woodson or even Esperanza Rising, by Pam Munoz Ryan. Which is actually a book that I remember from when I was little and a lot of students resignated with that.

Understanding that there is going to be a very broad and different cultural background amongst the students is important. You need to understand that there might be some students who are still learning English, or have other troubles when it comes to learning.

To make sure that you are aware of all students, making sure that you gather information about them and their culture as well as understanding that each student might collaborate differently based off of their culture. Will help you succeed in teaching them and helping them grow.

Not only that, but making sure to always incorporate different cultures and backgrounds in the lessons.

To not only make sure that the students feel included with the lessons, you can also make them feel included with the way you decorate your class. Making sure to have a diverse set up for different cultures can show the students that they belong.

Some ways you can decorate, are paying attention to the Holidays they celebrate. For example, Cinco de Mayo or Hanukkah you can put decorations up around those holidays. You can put up posters of different cultures with positive words on it.

Not only can you do decorations but teach the history about those holidays to the students and express the importance of it to them.
