After high school I decided to attend Vassar College in my hometown of Poughkeepsie, NY. This is where I fell in love with the study of psychology. After I graduated from Vassar College I went off to Columbia to study unde James McKeen Cattell in the new psychology lab at Columbia. Although as a woman I am not seen quite as equal in the field as the men but James Cattell treats me just like any other student. After my first year Mr. Cattell suggested that I sound to the the sage school of Philosophy to get my PHD since I wouldn’t be able to get it at Columbia.

After I did my speech in June of 1894 I was granted my PHD in psychology, and right wpaway was given a offer to become the chair of psychology at wells college in New York. After that I became the warden at the sage college at Cornell college, then I on to an assistant professor ship at the University of Cincinnati but I only stayed there for opine year after getting homesick. In 1903 I became the associate professor of philosophy which was my job untill I retired. In 1937 I had a stroke and never fully recovered in July of 1939 I was found dead in my home.

Using modern terms I think I would be under the cognitive study of psychology

I spent a lot of time studying animals cognitive abilities like the senses and perception, including hearing, vision, kinesthetic, and tactual sensation. My motor theory stated that consciousness arises when a motion or a tendency towards movement is partially inhibited by a tendency towards another movement. In the presence of an object, the senses create an impression of it, including vision, sight, feel etc. This is accompanied by an incipient sense of movement, either towards or from the object. Different objects evoke different senses of motor readiness. When the object is not present, memory re-evokes those sensations.
