This project was related to a water treatment skid order and delivery. The equipment provider was given a specification to meet, which included timeline, water flow rates, and the area which the skid would fit into. After final design, it was realized that an additional bypass valve would be beneficial to the project. The addition required a change order to increase the cost, but it did not delay the skid delivery due to the addition being implemented after the skid was delivered rather than at the factory.

The scope creep happened to me on a large project around 32million dollars. We re-designed the water system and that is what the budget was around, but after we started construction the maintenance supervisor in the area said that we needed to have a "hot backup" for all the pumps. This required us to have to re-engineer and purchase more equipment that was never intended to be purchased. The scope was clear early on, but this supervisor rallied up enough support to get it pushed through thus challenging our budget in this area. When projects get so large, unknowns are common, but we felt this small details should have been caught during the budgeting phase.

Dealing with a project now where I would say politics-someone of significant authority-comes into a project late and wants to change the project without adding signifcant value to the customer. But...things will have to change due to the level of authority the person has.

Presumably an example of scope creep may be changing the production method of a simple product, this could cause project confusion or add more cost or time to the project despite the same end result furthermore this change could be a political implication further impacting the project and being a scope creep.
