The Shang Dynasty was the first dynasty to have written records. So this is the dynasty that we have information from.

Zhou Dynasty- 1045 BC- 256 BCE

This was the longest ruling dynasty that we know of. Early rulers in this dynasty introduced the mandate of heaven and if the people believed that the ruler lost the mandate of heaven, the would no longer be the ruler.

Warring States Period: 700-221 BCE

During this period leaders from different areas were constantly fighting. They were constantly fighting for control.

Confucianism and Daoism Developed: 500 BCE

This dynasty promoted a peacefully society. This helped people to fight but to become with peace. The word "Daoism" is translated to "The way" which means that there is a path that everyone can follow to be a successful human.

Legalism Developed: 250 BCE

A third philosophy known as the importance of a system of laws became known as legalism. A guy named Hanfeizi introduced the ideas of legalism during 200 BC. Hanfeizi believed that humans are naturally evil unlike what Confucius thought.

Qin Dynasty: 221-210 BCE

The Qin Dynasty won the war that lasted for 250 years. When they won, they united all of the city's to form China. Qin united the different parts of China into on empire. He wanted to keep the empire safe from invasion so the vast desert known as the Gobi was a natural defense to protect the empire.

Han Dynasty: 206 BCE-220 CE

This dynasty was founded by a farmer that turned into a soldier. His family would rule China for more than 400 years. The first strong emperor was Han Wudi. He took big steps to improve China's government.
