Most language is acquired not leaned. There are two different types of learning systems. The acquired system is where language is learned through experience and natural communication. Where as, the learned system is when people are taught the different meaning of language and words. Acquisition learning is like picking up money off the ground because you have seen other people do it and there value for money. However, language is more acquired than learned.

Natural Order Hypothesis

Langage is usually acquired in a natural order. Krashen believes that there is a natural process for learning different parts of language. The different grammatical structure is learned through a predicable process. Natural Oder is like putting together a hoagie because there is already a predetermined way of doing so even though there is some times more than one way to do it. In conclusion, language is learned in a natural order.

Monitor Hypothesis

Learned Language allows us to monitor or edit our language. Reading language out loud and being to monitor and hear mistakes allows you to become the editor of language. This helps with learned grammar because it allows for one to hear their mistakes and become a editor. The monitor hypothesis is like spell check on Microsoft Word. Therefore, for the Monitor Hypothesis is being able to hear your mistakes and going back and correct them.

Input Hypotheis

When acquiring language "input" or "+1" pushes language learning one level about current comprehension. The method of +1 is described as challenging the learner to learn more about the word but still being able to comprehend what the word's meaning. This is also described as comprehensible input. This method can be compared to climbing a mountain because with each step you are covered more ground but the next step is always a little tougher. Therefore, the learner improves when given one step above their language acquisition.

Those with high motivation, self-confidence, and low anxiety are better equipped for learning a second language. There are many affective variables that a play a role in learning language. Having a great deal of motivation, self-confidence and low anxiety are all important when learning language. Possessing these variables help when learning language and make it easier for the learner. This can be compared to holding your favorite stuffed animal because it puts you in your comfort zone. Language acquisition is
most effective when the learner is in a safe, comfortable, and positive environment.
