<title> First in the text &quot; The story of an eyewitness&quot; the author uses a sad mood, but, at the conclusion in order to make an impression that the city will never be fixed, like it would just be a place of sadness, but, then it states that people are already planning on rebuilding the city. The author makes the mood sad so the reader thinks that their just going to give up on the city and leave it but, by the end of the story the bankers and business men are already planning to rebuild the city. &quot;San Francisco at the present time is like the crater of a volcano, around which camped tens of thousands of refugees. At the time Presidio alone are at least twenty thousand. All the surrounding cities and towns are jammed with the homeless ones, where they are being cared for by the relief of committees.&quot; Then, in the story &quot;Letter from New Orleans&quot; &quot; The government has the situation in hand, and, thanks to the immediate relief given by he United States, there is not the slightest possibility of a famine. The bankers and business men have already set making predictions to rebuild San Francisco.&quot; A man and a women were arguing, and then the stationmaster called for passengers for Houston,I heard the man tell her, &quot;I don&#39;t care what you say- I&#39;m getting on that bus.&quot; After he left, the women leaned against a pillar and wiped her eyes. A tall man with a stack of religious tracts was reciting psalms from memory and a some mad Subdued sounds of agreement or said &quot;that&#39;s right,&quot; in a rhythmic cadence. Around midnight, Bruce called again. He resolved to drive down from Kentucky to get his father. The mood that is created is loving because Bruce drove to get his father. Also the man who was reciting psalms from memory was giving everyone hope.</title>

<title>Both authors use mood throughout the text and at the conclusion to make an impression upon the reader. In the &quot;Story of an Eyewitness&quot; the author creates a stressful mood but in the end of the story the author creates a hopeful mood. In the story it states &quot; San Francisco is gone. Nothing remains of it but memories and a fringe of dwelling houses on its outskirts. In this quote the author creates a stressful mood. Also, in the story it states &quot; The bankers and the business men have already set about making preparations to rebuild San Francisco. In the other story &quot; Letter from New Orleans: Leaving Desire&quot; the author creates a sad and desperate mood in the beginning but in the end the man named Lionel faces what&#39;s actually happening. In the story it states &quot; I am so sorry Mr.Petrie but, no, They won&#39;t allow us to take out animals. You will have to leave him here&quot;. This quote from the author creates a sad mood because no one wants to leave their dog. Another statement from the story is &quot; Around midnight, Bruce called again. He had resolved to drive down from Kentucky to get his father. He would leave shortly with his wife Donna. Lionel Petrie would wait for them in the greyhound station&quot;. In this quote Lionel is happy because he can see his family again. Both authors in the story&#39;s give the reader a strong sense of how the characters are feeling.</title>
