Questionnaires are methods used to collect information from targeted audiences. Researchers usually use questionnaires or surveys in order that they can make generalization, therefore, it is based on the carefully selected sample which is a true representative of the population. The questionnaire needs to be well structure and designed to suit the method for communication and to be communicated effectively to acquire relevant and accurate responses. This will allow the researcher to gather responses that will assist in answering research questions and meet the objectives of the study. I have also learnt that there are two types of questions used in a questionnaire: open-ended questions allow the respondents to provide more details and closed questions are structured questions with a fixed set of options. Based on my knowledge and experience a questionnaire can be administered through telephone, face to face interviews, via mail or internet. I learnt in unit six that there are two types of errors that are related to questionnaires: interviewer error and respondent error. However, there are ways to minimize the errors by preparing well-structured not too complex questions, avoid order bias, the interviewer should be well trained in the field and the purpose of the questionnaire has to be well communicated to the respondent for better understanding. It was also stated that there are ways to increase the response rate of respondent by providing incentives, personalized cover letter to explain the purpose of the research and structure the questionnaire with interesting questions to get respondents engaged.
