We already explored some ideas about algebra and patterns in multiplying by tens, hundreds and thousands. This week we take the Mid-Chapter Checkpoint Quiz, and finish up the chapter- LEsson 2.8-2.11 Next week will be review and the test on Sept. 18th. Please go over this with your student as it is in the math book, a great way to study!  Completed IXL trackers are due the day of the test- Sept. 18th.

This is a lovely book that explores the mix of technology and nature while also understanding what it means to belong and being accepting of others. While we read the book, we will study theme, character traits, overall reading comprehension and vocabulary study.

**The quiz for Chapters 21-40 will be this week. Then we will continue reading chapters 41-48.


The book will culminate in a field trip to see The Wild Robot in the movie theatre! The movie is on October 4th.

Permission Slips were sent home in Friday Folders last week. Please fill these out and return asap. If you are interested in chaperoning we need about 4-5 per class. Talk to me if you'd like to go.


In writing, we are reading/analyzing/writing Poetry as well as learning about summary writing (finding main idea and key details).

We move on to geography a little closer to home, California! Students will study the four regions of California: desert, valley, coast and mountains. We will learn about the plants/animals, industry, climate, and terrain of these areas.

Students will make dough maps of California to mimic a topographical map. We will ask for some parent help for this project. Look for more information in the coming weeks.
