Before knowing if someone has e.coli, the doctor will send of a persons stool to the lab. If the patient with E.coli is experiencing diarrhea, they are given antibiotics to shorten the time length. It is important to rest and get plenty of fluids to replace what your body has vomited up or lost through diarrhea. One may want to eat crackers, toast, eggs, and rice because they are high in fiber. Don't take over the counter medication that fight diarrhea because they will slow your digestive system down which is what is shredding the infection.

This means, their immune systems can't fight off bacteria as well as middle aged people. Also, healthcare workers are high risk people as well. They work in healthcare centers cleaning u after sick people all day. If they don't wash their hands properly, they can get the bacteria easily.
