They are a married couple, but John admitted he was alone with Abigail and elizabath catches on and knows that John lied about seeing her. And she doesn’t trust John but John tried to turn it on her but she knows he’s a liar and cheater. Then when Mr.Hale comes and tells John to recite the commandments he says all but the one about adultery, and that’s when Elizabeth knows for sure that he cheated with Abigail.

Why I think there is mostly women charged with witchcraft is becuase. At the beginning of Act 1 all of the women that were dancing were saying names of guys they think are good looking/ would sleep with, so the women they are blaming are the guys wives.

Mary Warren says she will not defend Elizabeth in court and John gets upset. John becomes angry and starts yelling for Marry to defend Elizabeth and she says while crying “they’ll turn on me”. She is worried that if she defends Elizabeth in court than they will turn on her too and convict her of being a witch also.

Women are mostly targeted for witchcraft because women have to be good Christians and when they don’t or do something small that’s not of being a Christian then leads to other people having suspicion of witchcraft. Men aren’t usually accused of having witchcraft because they know what not to do while being a Christian.

I think at first his intentions were pure and he is a good guy just trying to help out people Becuase he fears the devil. But soon when many people start to get accused and more other ministers come he doesn’t know his place and he isn’t in charge he is just there and in the background. Then when he talks to John Proctor and figures out that the girls are saying these things Becuase they got in trouble for dancing not witchcraft. He is starting to put the pieces together that the girls are making things up on others so they don’t get in trouble.

Because I think he was unfaithful to his wife with Abigail and afterward his wife didn't seem to trust him.

John broke a commandment and his guilt is judging him more harshly than his wife, Elizabeth. This conflict in their marriage has caused them to fight. John is trying to make up for what he has done instead of realizing there is nothing he can do to change the past, he must move forward with his relationship with her.

John and Elizabeth proctor are husband and wife. But John cheated on his wife Elizabeth with Abigail Williams 7 Months ago. So John’s wife does not trust John. When Mr. Hale comes to warn/ tell John that his wife was accused and try to detect if she may be associated with the devil. Elizabeth realized it was probably Abbigail that accused her. Then when Elizabeth gets taken the guy that takes her proved that suspicion.

Mary’s behavior and motivation is based on the other girls. She thinks they’ll turn on her if she puts Abagail on trial. Mary is a follower of the other girls and she wants acceptance and won’t take accountability of how the needle was in the doll.

John Proctor and Elizabeth proctor are a married couple. They have two sons and and also Mary lives with them. John Proctor has cheated on Elizabeth before with Abagail and because of that she has a hard time trusting John. There relationship struggles cause of the not trusting each other.

Because at the beginning of the film, all the women apparently went to dance some witchcraft rituals and then a person saw them and they all ran wanting to hide so that no one would know who it was, but a man whose name I don't remember had already seen them.

The motivation that Mary Warren had was that she was trying to protect herself and the other girls from Abigail because Mary knew that if she took Abigail to trial then Abigail would turn it around onto John Proctor and then accuse him for adulatory, but also Abigail could lie to everyone in the court about the doll.

In the ending of the scene Mary Warren explains to John Proctor that she will not tell the court what she knows to protect Elizabeth because she believes the other woman will turn on her. She states at the end of act two, “I cannot, they’ll turn on me.” This shows that she is too scared to confess.

I think women were initially targeted for witchcraft due to societal roles at the time. Women were seen as inferior and if a woman were to break a societal norm it was seen as wrong, with some of the only possible answers at the time being that she were unsaintly, mentally ill or even a possible participant of witchcraft.
