Portugal wanted to be in control over the city of Diu because they were a main trade center having such a good location on the Indian Ocean. This created conflict between the two. Another conflict was trade happened over water, so it took longer for spice to get places. Completion was also a big factor.

Spices made good profits, because they were small and dried, they were easy to transport. People would burn spices in their homes to eliminate household smells. Spices were not only used to add flavor, but they also used to make food. The spices caused culture to blend by many countries using the same spices. Soon Europe would be selling Indian food. Since the Spice Route went through many countries, they formed connections, especially with the spice islands.
