Chapter fifty of Oliver Twist opens with the detailed description of Jackob's Isand . The buildigs are dirty the streets are narrow. The inhabitants are very poor and rugh . The houses seem to collapse, windows held by rusty parapets. In the subourb of Southwark stands Jacob's Island witch is sourrouted by a deep moat known as Folly Ditch. Dickens describes alle the Beckgroung down the smallest details clearly. Than there was a constant tentaty to appear, and thanks to that the authors of the period do not let anything slip and trascribe novels with a strong realism.
