I don't think I've encountered a film, book, or tv show that really reflected a significant moment of my life. But I have found myself connecting to movies that reflect heartwarming, mother and daughter/son scenes. While it doesn't reflect a moment in my life, it does reflect something that I yearn for. My relationship with my mother is complicated, and our relationship will never be like others. So when I see scenes within movies, of a mother's unconditional love for their child, it makes me cry. For along time, I never realized that I was crying because it was something that I wanted, I thought I had been crying because it was a sweet scene. Now that I understand why I cry at these scenes, I can only feel the bitter loss of a relationship that I'll never have. And at the same time, I think about others like me and wonder about how we let go.

The film, I Saw the TV Glow is one that a lot of people who walk a similar path to me see a lot of parallels in, some more than others. For me, it's less a single scene (although the shot of the sidewalk chalk reading "there is still time" hit me hard), and more Owen's entire character, especially older Owen. After Owen and Maddy part ways forever, Owen grows older and older, and more and more miserable, because he forces himself to eternally suppress a core part of himself.

When I started my gender transition in 2018, I thought I was already too late. And so, I went through it sort of half-heartedly, especially due to the lack of support I got from my family. It wasn't until 2022 that I had a wake-up call and started taking a much more active approach to my transition. I still worry that I've gone about it too slowly, but at least I'm doing it at all.

A film that reflected a significant moment in my life was The Sun is Also a Star. I feel like I loved this movie so much. I first watched this last semester. I think the way that both of the characters independently are trying to find their identity is really interesting.

I felt like especially when I started college I was struggling a lot but this movie and even the book helped me through it. I felt that I wasn't alone.
