Intro: What is life if not creating other life? Every day decisions have to be made. Either those decisions produce a pleasant effect or destroy you later down the line. Whether they are made from peer pressure, our own morals or from our past experiences they ultimately catch up to you as betterment or become detrimental.

Thesis: In One Foot in Eden the author uses symbolism, imagery and biblical allusions to Illustrate the roles of men and woman in a tragedy novel

Body paragraphs1: imagery – When you look into the eyes of a man what do you see? (go it detail about how the author uses eyes and many other details of imagery throughout the book)

Body paragraph 2: biblical illusions – (use things such as Adam and eve, how Amy keeps referring to god’s judgment, Amy taking a bath, Birds, snakes, water)

Body paragraph 3: symbolism- (Eyes, tree, golden star, the crops, the flooding, the witch, the buzzards)

Conclusion: It is in our nature as humans to want to fit in. Because of that, we make rash decisions at a moment’s notice. If we notice that from our past memories or experiences that we will get a painful reaction we choose to ultimately avoid that action.

I choose to go in the direction of the morals throughout the book and actions made. By using the symbolism, biblical allusions and the imagery presented.

Citation:

“One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash.” Edited by Kailey Parker, Teachersteachingwriting / One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash, Dawn Mitchell, 16 June 2015, teachersteachingwriting.pbworks.com/w/page/97377054/One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash.

Baker, W. “Blog 4 One Foot in Eden.” wbakerengl1020c, 31 Oct. 2014, wbakerengl1020c.wordpress.com/2014/10/31/blog-4-one-foot-in-eden/.
