I consider myself a generalist at heart, as I strive to understand surrounding processes to optimize my work in the middle. However, I have a stronger connection to 3D scanning & Motion Capture, technologies I have done personally research in, as well as Lighting & Rendering, Color Grading, and 3D Simulations (FX).

Few examples of my ongoing projects:

Currently, I’m developing a new lens testing methodology with the goal of creating a growing database where cinematographers and VFX artists can find a unified collection of both technical and visual tests to help them choose the right lens for their projects.

Another long-term project is my collaboration with Lucia Čarnecká a sculptor and lecturer at VŠVU – Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Together, we create “live sculptures” by capturing her performances through 4D scanning and manipulating her physical sculptures in virtual 3D space via 3D scanning. These transformed digital objects and performances are then projected onto transparent materials from multiple angles, forming hologram-like installations accompanied by a soundscape, music, or even interactive elements presented in a VR environment. Lucia has had several exhibitions in Slovakia, as well as in China, for example.

I also work as a VFX supervisor and artist on both short and feature-length films. Additionally, I experiment with 3D scanning for location scouting as a pre-production tool and explore the possibilities of new AI tools in various VFX tasks. And to step outside the digital world, I am exploring shooting miniatures, combining traditional techniques with modern approaches like 3D printing, digital compositing, and even AI image manipulation.

Restoration of archived old audio materials is another relevant theme in my agenda. This involves preserving and improving historical audio, as well as restoring it for use in modern films.

I’m looking forward to meeting colleagues from the film industry across the EU and sharing my knowledge through workshops in the areas mentioned above. My expertise is rooted not only in creativity but also in a technical background (I’m the technical director at the leading Lithuanian sound studio, UP Records). My areas of research and interest are Social Issues/ social psychology, personality, positive psychology and creativity. I would like to explore how we can better design for people who are blind or visually impaired (color-blind, etc.). And to learn directly from her experience, as well as engage in research on inclusive design practices (also thinking broader than blindness).

The aim is to study how websites, emails, visual communication, and branding or your non-visual design can be made more accessible.

In our product design programme we also have a course: Inclusive design, but I have not yet found time to connect with that colleague.

This 3-day workshop proposes to work with teacher-partners on illustration/narrative image non-formal pedagogies, taking illustration as a collaborative, research-based, situated and decolonial practise.

From the experience of wandering through Lisbon to uncover not only the city's african legacy but also its slavery and colonial past (guided by Batoto Yetu association), participants will discuss and map thoughts and feelings, not only through an analog process but also with the aid of “Table Dialogues”, an immersive participative installation that invites users to draw, dialogue and connect after being immersed in a fictional story. 

The workshop culminates in the collective conceptualization and sketching of an illustrated object/publication to be later finalized and produced by DELLI_Press, Lusófona.

Journalism needs to reinvent itself in order to win back audiences tired of the negativity and binary discourses (e.g. us vs. others) of the news that overlook the nuances of reality. At Lusófona University, we are developing a new theoretical and practical form of journalism, which we have coined Interconnected Journalism. It involves features that choose a pertinent topic to portray it from the point of view of different communities, giving visibility to the interconnections that exist between people. It therefore aims to combat social indifference, hate speech and populism, strengthening journalism and its role in building democracy.

We are looking for partners with expertise in the field of media studies that would like to receive us and discuss one or more themes, a methodology and a team of teachers and students capable of developing an interconnected journalism multimedia feature as well as a cross-media dissemination strategy. We are currently in the process of developing a new animation education programme from the ground up. Over the past few months, our team has been working intensively on curriculum design, pedagogical structure, and supporting research.
