My students wanted to buy a wheelchair for one of their classmates who is disable and his family cannot afford this expenses. They organised a local market in the main square during Christmas time. They prepared trees decorations, cakes and biscuits to sell at the market.They collected enough money to but the wheelchair at the end of the 2 planned weeks. It was a beautiful experience and they were very proud of the results!

I can't do this activity with my students as I have already planned other activities in these days, but we are used to cope with limited resources. Our school building is very old and the restoring is going on very slow, so we don't have good facilities. If we have to meet we can use the schoolyard if the weather is fine, if we must use hardware and software resources, we often use BYOD.

Last year I involved my students in an eCLIL project but my school was (and still is) not well equipped ! I asked my students to find a way to carry on their project or else they would have to give up ! How to create their final product without internet connection, pc or similar ? How to connect with the eTwinning Platform in order to share their ideas on the twin space ? They looked around in and out of their school context and found the solution ! They used their and my mobile phones and pcs. They were great ! Their final video was not perfect but they did their best in terms of resources, creativity and passion ! Here you are the result but remember they were only 11 !

My students usually do activities aimed at improving the condition of other people and often also to improve the technological and musical conditions of the school. They are sensitive and are able to rapidly convert the drive errors in new opportunities to better themselves. Basically I'm lucky! For two years I teach them to make sound machines and discover new timbres and sonorities. The ability to achieve a record production for marketing it in full freedom is more and more concrete. I will try the glasses activity as soon as I can, sounds amasing! In the meanwhile I can share what we did last week with a group of 4 students who wanted to do video-interviews for the women's day. We found out that the school camera didn't work; that we needed the principle's and parents' authorization; that we could only do this in half an hour! I find the glasses challenge very interesting and one of these days I am going to try it with my students.For now I will tell you about a challenge my students had to face some years ago, in a football game between schools.
At one of these games there was no beacon. How could students play football without beacons? So, some students went to the woods next to school, cut some sticks and improvised a beacon.It was amazing!!!

I've never heard about the glasses challenge and it seems a great idea to teach students how to cope with limited resources. This kind of activity reminds me how students of my classes decided to cope with a practical problem in their classrooms. Since there weren't windows curtains and the school administration couldn't buy them, students decided to made curtains on their own. So they made paper curtains for their windows

I have done similar challenges with my students where I asked them to do different STEAM challenges with limited resources. Some of the ideas that the children come up with are very original and they enjoy the challenge. Creative glasses challenge. It is rather easy, if you only need scissors and you can go out of the classroom. Even if children do not come up with the idea to ask the teacher for the scissors, they usually run to the school library, because the librarian there has everything and more... Creative glasses challenge is stimlating and I'll certainly try it. It makes people realize that there are many ways to do things. With no direct means, creativity becomes a precious talent.
Few years ago, in my school, teachers and students wanted to buy one or two interactive whiteboards and worked together for the whole year producing ceramics and cotton shopping bags during the weekly labs. In June, with their parents' help (to get boxes and a stand for the local weekly market), they sold all their products at the market and with that money the school could buy two interactive whiteboards. We still had some money left to buy food for a cooking lab with the same students the following schoolyear. Motivation and perseverance of the students with the guide and organization of their teachers made the difference.

we wanted from student use no scissors or glue while making the cut and paste activity. For cutting activity some of the students tried to use their hands, some of the students tried using the pencil for making holes on the paper, some of them cut the paper by using the pencil like fulcrum. After that for sticking some of the students tried wetting the paper , some of them tried using some materials(needle, paper clips etc.). the activity's aim is encourage students to think and find some solutions when there are adversities .

I find the Idea of this activity very challenging!
I tried the activity with my youngest pupils (age 14/15) but as I had no rubber I gave them thick cardboard. I divided them in small groups and asked them to make creative glasses. Some groups made a drawing and then looked immediately for scissors.
Others tried to be more creative and after having made a drawing they carved at first the shape with some pens till the shape were cut: for the glasses they used also plastic wrap of their snacks. They found the idea of using the glasses to see things form different perspective very challenging and amusing they thought to Gyro Gearloose of Mikey Mouse!
