 -Later, aristocrats realized that they were more powerful as a group than their king. 

-They took the crown and full on power.

They could make laws as well.

Kings were usually chosen by the people of the city-states but then kings eventually demanded that their power was to be passed down to their children. The oldest son would usually come in command after the king died.

Aristocrats were men that advised the king and were depended on during wartime and they had large pieces of land. Because the king and everyone else depended on the aristocrats, the aristocrats realized they were stronger than there king and put new laws against the king.
