BBCU presents some shortcomings, but in general is a good tool. More add-ons would be appreciated. 
I tried WebEx Meetings, but I prefer BBCU.
Students have not showed any preference about the platforms.

Sometimes students get disconnected and they have to sign in back again but in general it's fine. One issue that I encounter is when I am sharing my screen (full screen) then I am not able to see who is joining or leaving the class. Zoom offers the possibility to open the web camera. I understood for BCU there is maintenance and IT help from Seneca College but for Zoom no. On Zoom we can only open sessions for 45 minutes, because for the rest we have to pay- did Seneca College buy the Zoom license that we can have 3 hours lessons? On zoom we can only type in the chat room, on BCU we have white board. I would prefer Zoom because of their galary view function, but I noticed the Seneca disabled the dial-in option with Zoom so I won't be able to use Zoom for that reason. 

I encouraged the students to turn the camera on when they were in breakout rooms at least to get to know each other, but the majority of students kept the camera off throughout the course. Aside from that it works well for me. Students have no problems with it. At certain times it can get laggy but that's simply due to their internet connection. I know that collaborate will become less laggy as they increase their capability to host more and more people. However, when I want students to use video, the result is very poor, even with those who have fast internet. Also you cannot see people's webcam (except for 1 person) once you start showing slides on BBCU. Also on BBCU, students cannot come back to the main room themselves from the Breakout rooms.

For these reasons, I like Zoom much better. More stable connection, we can see multiple people's webcams (faces) even when I'm presenting the slides. It gives much more of a "community" feel. In Zoom, students can come back to the main room from Breakout room themselves, after they get done with activities.

Some issues I've had are some students getting removed from the class when the setting is not correct. But it was difficult to figure out why that was happening.
