In Act 1, the characters present are Fly, Chance, Scudder, and Princess. There are multiple obvious differences between this and Twelfth Night. For one, Sweet Bird of Youth is written in modern english. There are also a lot more background information and stage directions at the beginning of the each scene. The reviewers main problem with the plot is the character Chance, saying that it is hard to feel sympathy for such a "narcissistic" and "parasite" like character.
