For my first event I am going to talk about the beginning of Ida B Wells journey. This was when she experienced injustices for the first time. Ida was on a train. She was heading over to the seat she bought when she gets stopped by some of the train workers. The train workers tell her that she's not allowed to sit over in her assigned spot. She is told to go sit in the smokers area even though she doesn't smoke. This was when she realized that everyone must be treated the same and that she is also a human. Ida B Wells was a huge trail blazer for freedom and rights to everyone. When she was born the civil war was happening, women had 0 rights, and terrible things were happening.

You might be wondering "What did she give up for freedom though?" Well to answer your question she was willing to give up her whole life to freedom and stop injustice.

(This poem is about Ida B Wells' family dying of yellow fever.) I’m out here finally fulfilling my dreams and there you are laying on your deathbed. I’d never thought I would have to leave you so soon. I honestly thought you’d outlive me. I thought you were destined to do amazing things. I understand some were nearing the end but my sweet brother, you had so much to live for. I’m out here doing what I’ve wanted to do since I was young and there you are, nearing your grave. Oh lord I pray every night that they live and you take me instead, but we both know that it won’t happen. My brother you have just come to my world and now you are already leaving? You were supposed to do amazing things but now you are about to be with the heavenly father. I’m thinking of you but what about me? You won’t be able to see what I’m destined to do. You will be looking down to me as always and I’ll still be looking up to you. My sweet mother, brother, and father, you will be able to find peace, but what about me? A topic that I care about is the womens right movement. This is super important to me because I have experienced a lot of injustice in this area. There is so much happening in the world but in my opinion this is probably the scariest thing for me. Sure women do have more rights than we used to but we still experience injustice. We get luxury tax on feminine products that keep us sanitary but men get needs taxed on razors which makes the tax a lot lower in price. They can live without and certain men don’t even use them. Women also get paid less than men. According to the Economic Policy Institue in 2023 women were found to make 22% less than men in the same job. And then companies deny paying less to women. Women also get so mistreated and half of the time people say that they “had it coming” or “she was asking for it”. This is just insane. It is very clear that even though we have more rights than we did in the 1800s women are still facing injustice. Women make up 49% of this world. That means at least a little bit under half of the world is still facing injustice. We need to wake up and realize that this is not ok and will never be ok. We have to do something. Women have created all the humans on earth but yet they are still treated unfairly? This doesn’t just affect women, this affects the whole world. If we keep mistreating the women then who will be here to help keep the population growing? We have to do something before it’s too late.

For the second event I'm going to talk about her Anti Lynching protests. If you don't know what Lynching is it is when someone is publicly killed usually the killing is unjustified. This is one of the main things she was known for. She thought that Lynching is unconstitutional. So for years she led many protests against Lynching. In 1898 she made it to the president and told him how unconstitutional Lynching is. The president recognized this and made the Anti Lynching law.

The last event I would like to talk about is the Alpha Suffrage club(ASC). This is a club that Ida B Wells led. This club if you couldn't tell was all about the women's suffrage movement. This club led a huge protest on March 3rd 1913. This led to the change of the whole world.
