A police officer with the Oakland Police Dept. from 2003 to 2009, Francisco Martinez was charged with responding to service calls, handling report preparation and arrests as needed, and providing support with Spanish translation. He was honored with a Unit Citation for his contributions to the Gang Unit, where he was one of the key factors in numerous arrests and the retrieval of firearms.

He was also an undercover police officer at the Oakland Police Dept. Francisco Martinez mainly focused on high-drug zones, and went undercover for the DEA. In addition, he was honored with a Medal of Merit for aiding in the delivery of a baby while on duty.

Subsequently, Francisco Martinez joined the Gustine Police Department. After spending three years with the department, he was promoted to Corporal and now Sergeant. He now serves as a patrol supervisor and field training officer.
