Authorities are set to reveal more information about an investigation into the deaths of the actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, whose partially mummified bodies were discovered last month at their home in New Mexico.

The Santa Fe county sheriff’s office has said it does not suspect foul play, and tests for carbon monoxide poisoning were negative.

The sheriff, Adan Mendoza, and state fire, health and forensics officials scheduled an afternoon news conference on Friday to provide updates on the case.

Mendoza has said the couple may have died up to two weeks before they were discovered on 26 February. Hackman’s pacemaker last showed activity on 17 February, nine days before maintenance and security workers showed up at the home and alerted police.

Answering questions from reporters in the Oval Office, Trump, while repeating that sanctions threat he posted earlier in the day, had positive words about the Russian president. "He wants to end the war and once ended, and I think he's going to be more generous than he has to be. And that's pretty good," Trump said.

Brad Sigmon, 67 chose the firing squad over the two other state approved methods of execution, lethal injection or the electric chair. Sigmon was convicted of the 2001 deaths of his ex-girlfriend’s parents. After their murder,s Sigmon kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint, but she managed to escape.

The Donald Trump Adminsitration has officially agreed to drop a landmark enviromental justice case in Lousisiana's Cancer Alley region. This is a blow against the clean air advocates but a win for the Japanese petrochemical giant. The legal filings were made public on Friday morning. They revealed that Trump's Department of Justice agreed to dismiss a long-running lawsuit against the operators of a synthetic rubber plant in Reserve, Louisiana. Allegedly, largely responsible for the highest cancer risk rates that surround majority-Black neighborhoods in the U.S. In February 2023, under the Biden administration, the litigation was filed to substantially curb the plant's emissions of the pollutant called chloroprene. Which is likely a human carcinogen.

Yesterday in Seattle, a 12 year old girl was hit by an SUV and was killed. On a hill right outside of Washington Middle School, there was a SUV "parked" on the hill. The empty car rolled backward down the road around 1pm and hit the young girl who was a student at the middle school. Police stated that the driver probably did not set his parking brake correctly and is being evaluated for drug and alcohol. The superintendent of the district sent out an issue to families and staff assuring them that they could get the help and resources that they needed dealing with the loss.

This past week at the joint sessions of congress. President Trump gave a special award to a little boy. His name was DJ Daniels, and who is 13 years old and battling brain cancer. When he first found out how much time he was, he was given 6 months to live out his life. That 6 months was over 6 years ago, and he is still moving strong. During the address, President Trump gave DJ his dream. To become a United States Border Patrol agent. One side of the section of congress went crazy for the little boy. Cheering, yelling, and screaming for him. Then, the other side was completely quiet. Not even giving the young kid a round of applause. This has caused a lot of controversy as to how far politics are going to go until both sides can come together.

The Athena lander, essential a four wheeler with a camera and solar panels has recently been discovered to be 'powered down' one day after arriving to the surface of the moon, it was expected to have a life span of at least 10 days on the moon, but its life ended prematurely due to the low power, of the freezing temperatures on the moon, and the direction of the sun compared to the solar panels, confirms that this moon lander will not be able to charge. And though this is incredibly sad for NASA, it gives them more data and shows them a better landing spot for next time.

Sigmon was convicted of the 2001 bludgeoning deaths of his ex-girlfriend’s parents. After their murders Sigmon kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint, but she managed to escape.

Attorneys for Sigmon said he faced an “impossible” choice between “barbaric” methods used by the state for execution.

“Unless he elected lethal injection or the firing squad, he would die in South Carolina’s ancient electric chair, which would burn and cook him alive. But the alternative is just as monstrous,” Gerald “Bo” King, one of Sigmon’s attorneys, said in a news release after his client told the state his preferred method.

A 20 year old student named Caleb Wilson was killed by what is being decided as either manslaughter or murder. Wilson was a student at the Southern University in Baton Rouge, who was killed by being punched in the chest while pleading to join a fraternity. There was another death from this club back in 2017, and now they are facing possible civil penalties regarding Louisiana's anti-hazing laws.
