Girls just want to have fun. This because the book is about a girl who's 12 years old when the book begins. She talks about life in short poems, she calls them lazy poems.

I think a great new title should be 'A Different Girls Life'. As i said before, the book is about a girl who's 12 years old and talks about life. But here life is not just like a normal girls life. That's why I think different should be in it. Normal things do happen, but you will read more not normal things. Like the girl named Esperanza who writes about hair. She describes her own hair and her families. There is also written about sexual assault.

The book is written by a girl named Esperanza, a mexican-american girl. She lives with her family in a house on Mango Street in Chicago. It is a small house and Esperanza tries to hide that her family is poor. She hides her shoes under the table at a party. She lies about where she lives. Over the summer Esperanza hits puberty. Weird things happen with her body. She makes friends, who also have problems. When one of her friends, Sally leaves her alone to escape with men, Esperanza gets raped by a group of boys at a carnival. In the meanwhile Esperanza writes. She writes about everything. One day she hopes that she will have her own house where she can write about everything she wants. Her writing for now is her emotional escape. She hopes that it will be her physiical escape in the future.

Well speaking as a journalist, I would give this book around 4 stars. The book itself is a different book than I would normally read. Personally I would not read a book like this again. But for an exeption it was a nice choice. I would read more detective books, this has to deal more with a whole life.
