This was a fight between Pro-Slavery and Anti-Slavery citizens following the creation of the new territory Kansas. This definitely raised tensions between these groups and is the first time they actually started fighting over slavery which of course led to the Civil War.

The numbers of enslaved people started varying from state to state which would set us up for further divide leading to the Civil War based on every date having a different opinion on the numbers of slaves and if there should be slaves.

This was a Landmark decision in the U.S. that declared American citizens of African descent do not get the same rights from the constitution that white Americans get whether they are enslaved or free. This brought us closer to Civil War by angering Anti-Slavery citizens and African Americans who where trying to make all citizens equal.

Missouri applying for statehood increased the tensions between free and slave states because of having to decide if it should be a free or slave state. They did end up making it equal with Missouri being slave and Maine being a free state. The 36,30 line was drawn which would eventually lead to even more issues leading up to the civil war with deciding which states should be free or slave based on that line. It also led to Bleeding Kansas which was the first real violent attack between free and slave state supporters. Tensions ended up just becoming larger because of the Missouri Compromise.

John Brown was a successful and violent abolitionist who played a major role in starting the Civil War. In 1859 him and 19 other supporters led a raid on the federal armory in Harper's Ferry in an effort to steal guns and weapons and give them to the slaves to start an uprising. This made many southerners very upset obviously and scared as this is another act of violence against slave owners, making them more and more worried about if they would lose slavery.

This rebellion ended up killing the idea that slaves were happy being slaves and it made many white men scared and feel threatened by slaves. They felt that because slaves were unhappy that if they were set free they would rise up and start killing white people. So because of this it started to create slave states very dead set on keeping slavery and increased tensions between slave and free states. This just added on to the tensions that would lead to the civil war.

If passed, the Proviso would have outlawed slavery in territory acquired by the United States as a result of the war. This was a major factor going into the Civil war because of how much conflict it caused leading up to the civil war on free vs slave states.

While the agreement succeeded in postponing more conflict between the North and South, it did little to address, and in some ways even reinforced, the structural disparity that divided the United States. The new Fugitive Slave Act, by forcing non-slaveholders to participate in the institution, also led to increased polarization among centrist citizens. It just but a baind-aid on a bullet wound so to speak and still increased tensions leading to the civil war because of things like the fugitive slave act being passed.

The areas that slaves were being traded into (which was the south) would eventually affect which states would be slave and free states. This was the setup for the start of the civil war, because of how the slave trade already predetermined how our states would separate.

The cotton gin was arguably the invention that lead to the civil war because of much of a boom in demand fro slaves it caused. The cotton gin was created right when slavery was coming to an end, but once ot was created slaves were in high demand in the south. This lead to further separation in the north and south because of how different both of their economy were looking, The Souths economy relied on slaves while the Norths didn't.
