Children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) have difficulty in communicating with others. 
Children and young people with ASD, including Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism, are likely to have particular difficulties with social interaction. 

Support for learning difficulties may be required when children and young people learn at a slower pace than their peers, even with appropriate differentiation. Learning difficulties cover a wide range of needs, including moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD). 
Specific learning difficulties (SpLD), affect one or more specific aspects of learning. This encompasses a range of conditions such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia 

Children and young people may experience a wide range of social and emotional difficulties which manifest themselves in many ways. These may include becoming withdrawn or isolated, as well as displaying challenging, disruptive or disturbing behaviour. These behaviours may reflect underlying mental health difficulties such as anxiety or depression, self-harming, substance misuse, eating disorders or physical symptoms that are medically unexplained. Other children and young people may have disorders such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) or attachment disorder. 

 Some children and young people require special educational provision because they have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of the educational facilities generally provided. These difficulties can be age related and may fluctuate over time. Many children and young people with vision impairment (VI), hearing impairment (HI) or a multi-sensory impairment (MSI) will require specialist support and/or equipment to access their learning, or habilitation support. 

CAMHS help children and young people up to 18 who are finding it hard to cope with everyday life because of difficult feelings, behaviour or relationships.

Most of the time when we are sad, angry, stressed or worried these feelings pass within a few days, but if they go on for a while and stop us enjoying and coping with life, then CAMHS can help.

Just as we go to the doctors when we are physically ill, sometimes we need extra help with our mental health.

Virtual advice sessions can be accessed via Microsoft Teams or by telephone appointment. Please state your preference when booking. Microsoft Teams works best when more than 2 people are attending the advice session.

Appointments will last from 30 to 45 minutes.

If it is felt that your child requires access to specialist support from within the service a standard referral form will be requested.

Advice lines can be accessed as frequently as required to support ongoing goal setting and progression of therapy programmes/ support.

If it is felt that your child requires further assessment following an advice line session, they will automatically be put forward for a face to face assessment.
