At 16, I was finally able to reach that goal. I worked in the outside services position at The Golf Club at Redmond Ridge for a year and a half, and I currently work in a similar position at Sahalee Country Club. Along with getting valuable work experience, I have made amazing connections along the way. I am also involved in the Athletes for Kids mentoring program. Athletes for Kids is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of children who have disabilities and special needs and the high school athletes who mentor them. Athletes for Kids carefully match each child with a qualified high school athlete who commits to mentoring them for one to three years. I was matched with my buddy in October of 2021 and I will continue to mentor him until I head off to the U. My buddy is in 5th grade, and he was diagnosed with autism and ADHD at a young age. We enjoy playing badminton, soccer, and chess together each week. My buddy and I have developed a strong bond over the last year. I have also noticed him grow on a social level which has meant the world to me. I would do anything from shoveling snow and mowing lawns to umpiring little league games to make extra money. My elementary friends and I even started our own company called Golden City Longboards. We had a blast designing and crafting our own longboards to sell to our neighborhood buddies. Being an entrepreneur has always been in my blood. My ultimate goal is to start my own business and be my own boss. One of my greatest inspirations has been watching my dad create his own business from the ground up. Entrepreneurship allows for freedom and does not put limits on what one can achieve.  I am drawn to the flexibility and opportunity that entrepreneurship can provide. Living at Lassonde Studios would be an incredible opportunity as I would be surrounded by other like-minded and ambitious students. One reason I chose the University of Utah is that it offers so many opportunities to explore. I love being surrounded by others and doing activities such as snowboarding, golfing, mountain biking, running, and hiking. Being outside and doing some of my favorite things helps me relax and get away from the daily grind. I find that I am my most creative self when I am active, socializing, and enjoying the fresh air rather than just sitting at a desk. The design of Lassonde Studios would allow me to connect with others, collaborate, and make things happen.
